this blog is not just about me mouthing off.  it’s also place for teen girls and young women to share thoughts, ideas and concerns.

what are you thinking about?

what tips can you offer?

what new gadget, recipe, cool thing can you not get enough of?

what issues do you need advice on?

leave a message on my blog or email me at sassysagesays@gmail.com.

i’d like to post up what you have to say.

i was up til the wee hours this morning calculating grades for the class i teach.  i wasn’t procrastinating; the final was on tuesday and i had only two days to figure out grades. so the pressure was on.

i really wanted to give up and say it was an impossible task.  but i remembered two things:

1-    in the past when i chose to give up, i suffered many consequences.

looking like a flake

letting someone down that i cared about (including myself)

losing out on a major opportunity

having to do it the next day anyway because there was no getting out of it

2-   The joy of knowing I’m done!

the students will be happy (or not so happy) to get their grades

i have today to blog among other things

i am finished with this phase & can move on to the next better thing

so take a lesson from my mistakes and make sure to never give up on yourself, even if it seems like there is no end in sight

turning around does not make your problem or task go away

it only creates more issues to deal with

so stick it out

soon you will cross the finish line like the real winner you are!!!

finish line

“You tried to be a lady, but you’re more comfortable as a tramp,” said Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno to Lil Kim this week after her performance of the waltz.

it’s hard to feel bad for her given the less than stellar model she has provided for girls in our communities.  but does that give him the right to talk about her any kind of way?  if she can call herself out of her name; does that mean all of us can call her out too?  a lot of folks say yes!

ladies when a guy sees you and you are wearing something that doesn’t leave much to the imagination; know that image is always going to be in the back of his mind.  taking you to meet his mama will be hard to come by.  you’ve been placed in the category of ‘a fun time.’ you will not be taken seriously.

is this fair, no.

is it right? who knows…

but is our reality.

let’s not play ourselves by showing out like a clown.

you project how you want others to treat you.

so treat yourself with respect and you’ll get it.
