  • Comments Off on Hot Off The Press: Does doing good count if your motives are bad?

this morning i sat mouth wide open as i read the heart wrenching story of a yale college student, mandi schwartz, who has leukemia and is in need of a stem cell transplant in order to survive.   the good news is that she is scheduled to receive her transplant next month thanks to some extraordinary efforts of a total stranger.

tedd collins iv went to all ends; spreading the word about her need for a donor.   on many accounts he would be perceived as a hero but there is a catch.  he has been accused in the past of charity fraud.   he has been sued for setting up charities that asked individuals for money so he could fund a cause.   but when investigated these organizations don’t exist or have never seen the money that he raised.

i’m not advocating fraud; but should his good deed of getting her a transplant be discounted because of a less than desirable past?  if his motives were bad should he not get praise for saving a life?

i’ve got no answers for this one but think it’s an interesting question to ponder about judgment, giving back and intent…

I always get the same polish on my nails. Neutral for my fingers; so when I type and chip it’s camouflaged. Fuchsia or burgundy for my toes…nice ‘n bright but goes with everything.  I get compliments and am happy with my mani-pedi every time.

So I was shocked when my nail tech suggested I go green! I thought she was joking. I mean how could she be serious.  Green goes with what exactly? She insisted that she wasn’t going to spend another appointment polishing the same color on my toes. ‘You always get the same thing. Live a little and go for a change.’ I did and it was a huge hit!  Everyone noticed and embraced my toes plus the new me.  I love it and now I’m hooked on finding something new.  I’m sure I will choose my usual tone most of the time but every now and then I’m planning to mix things up.

So…what color should I get next?

  • Comments Off on Sage’s Rage: Independence Day

today many people are coming back from vacations in the sun and family picnics on the shore. having had grand celebrations and fireworks to honor our Nation’s Birth.   but does that independence apply to you?  well of course not sage! my mom’s got total control over my time and life…okay if you’re under age; there are rules that you have to obey.

but even tweens and teens need some independence in their lives.   sadly most adults don’t truly have it either.  webster’s dictionary says Independence means: 1- free from the influence or control of others; 2- self- reliant, 3- one who is independent in thinking and action.

before you run for the grill or first dips to make smores…take a moment to ponder how you can get more freedom in your life…
