We need more girls leaders to help our communities heal and grow.   Please spread the word to students in NYC who might be interested in this opportunity.   Please contact the program below, as I am not affiliated with the program.

The Resilience Advocacy Project is recruiting young people to participate in the Youth Leadership, Empowerment and Advocacy Program (Youth LEAP) .  This is an exciting after school program that trains teens to become peer advocates for other youth in communities throughout New York City.  We are recruiting young people, ages 16-19, who want to have an impact in their communities and who can commit to an exciting and demanding after-school program for nine months. Peer advocates will meet bi-weekly to explore their communities, learn about young people’s legal rights, and develop the skills to become effective advocates for themselves and other youth.
Beginning in January, youth will work together to train other youth about how to use the law to stick up for their rights, to use video and
online media to advocate for other youth, and to work with local law students to help run youth advocacy clinics in their communities that help
young people overcome challenges in their lives. The Youth LEAP program empowers youth to impact the circumstances of their lives and their communities. Young people develop their research, planning, communication, and leadership skills by engaging in real advocacy work that impacts real lives. Participation may also fulfill service learning requirements.
Youth can apply online at:
