Today it was annouced that the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded jointly to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work.”
Only 12 women in the past had won the Nobel prize in its 110 year history! That’s about one every 10 years…This year’s annoucement is a start but I’m looking to see a woman on the flip side of that coin soon! I am so proud of our sisters for working hard on behalf of women worldwide. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
