Charlie Sheen’s news of his HIV status may have caused a media spin but he’s not the only one with HIV. Although the epidemic has improved, there is a long way to get to zero!
Last year there were almost 37 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the world. And 2 million new HIV infections each year.
In the U.S., one quarter of those who have HIV/AIDS are girls/women. The CDC says that most of these girls/women are not in treatment.
This World AIDS Day we must encourage ourselves, our friends and our sisters to get tested. Every day we need to support those who are HIV-positive to get and stay in treatment.
