some people think STEM is really boring. but that’s because they are learning by reading about STEM. STEM is an action sport. it’s about doing. you’ve got to get in there and play.
that’s why the new web diy series ‘Hack along with Goldie Blox’ is so great. Every Friday a new episode is gonna come out with fun fixes that any girl with a can do attitude can make themselves.

did you know that only 1 out of 10 engineers are women?
doesn’t make sense since women/girls are 1/2 of the population.
we know there are lots of girls who like math, building things and solving problems. so why not more?
probably cause most girls have no idea what an engineer does…
that’s where goldieblox comes in.
inventor/ceo of goldieblox, debbie sterling, created a really neat toy that girls can play with to bring out there inner-gineer.

The Johns Hopkins University Engineering Innovation Program, for high school students, will take place at the Univ. of Baltimore campus from July 5-July 29, 2011, 9am-3pm. This is a commuter program (lodging and transportation are not provided).
The Program is an all expense paid program for students who can establish financial need. The students will engage in hands on activities in engineering and science.
Applicants should have taken the PSAT and/or Algebra II.
